Research
Throughout the year, the Center provides responses/analytical support to both internal (VCOM staff/faculty) and external clients relative to the national healthcare workforce data, other publically available data sources (demographic, shortage area, etc.) and/or their own data. Currently there have been discussions with several external research and national healthcare organization on conducting joint research on multiple areas with resulting publications. NCAHD’s National Advisory Board will provide input on research that the Center is considering and additional areas to be considered.
Historically, costs for conducting research for external clients are covered if there is a generation of a map or other data product.

Internet Mapping Application (IMA)
NCAHD, in partnership with other stakeholders, is creating an IMA to demonstrate the type/quality of healthcare workforce data that our center can provide through our products and services. We will have the ability to modify the interface in order to add/remove data and create customized interfaces for our clientele with their own data, logo, etc. that we’ll provide as a custom service. Users will have the ability to view the aggregated healthcare workforce data and possibly some of the point location data with nationally available data, e.g. shortage designations, demographic, etc. They will have the ability to create a very basic map and be directed to the map store and the custom map form to order for higher quality maps.

Digital Mapping Workshops
Throughout the year, the Director will conduct mapping workshops for the Center for Rural Health Works and other partners/stakeholders upon request. Workshops can be designed from 3 hours to 2 days, depending upon the GIS tools and techniques desired to be taught. All training is conducted at the client’s facility or as arranged by the client in a third-party facility, such as a hotel or academic facility. For those wanting a hands-on training session, an additional fee for a trial version of the mapping software would apply.
