What is Alumni Tracking

Using our unique enhanced state licensure data, we can track many different healthcare providers as to where they practice and perform spatial/ proximity analysis relative to any geographic area (e.g. county, region, etc.), service area, federal/state rural or underserved designations and more.

ESL Data Used

We match your alumni to our ESL dataset and share the results in a spreadsheet. Our average find rate is between 90% - 95%.

Practice Location

We find your alumni's practice location so you know where they practice

Spatial Analysis

We match your alumni's location to rural and underserved areas

Specialty Analysis

We normalize alumni to ACGME specialty classification and determine % of each specialty type and/or by class

"KCU has worked with NCAHD for the last few years to obtain insights about our alums that can inform our strategic decisions and support our marketing and communications. We appreciate the Center’s fastidious approach to painstakingly review the demographics and impacts of our graduates locally, regionally and nationally."

The Tracking Process

Step 1

Upon receipt of alumni data (in spreadsheet format), we normalize the data and put it into our tracking format (e.g. separating the name into first and last name, etc.) and adjust the address information as needed.

Step 3

For those individuals with less than perfect matches (scoring 2), each is reviewed to determine why it didn’t match. We resolve as many as we can and leave the remaining for further processing as described in the next step.

Step 5

To those that are matched, spatial analysis is conducted to determine each individual’s proximity to the most current federal rural and medically underserved areas/population definitions and their specialty is normalized to ACGME standards.

Step 2

Compare alumni or students to our national dataset using at a minimum of three or more basic matching elements (e.g. full name, specialty, training institute, graduation date, DOB) and assign a match score based upon the number of elements matched.

Step 4

For those matched individuals with unresolved issues, we use alternative resources to find them (e.g. internet source primarily and when necessary, phone calls to previous employment)

Step 6

Generate three spreadsheet results: 1) Each individual with original and matching address(es). For individuals with multiple state licenses, the additional match information is provided. 2) Type and number of specialist for all the alumni 3) Type and number of specialist for each graduation year OR Spatial analysis of found alumni by each class (e.g. number and percent of graduates practicing in rural or underserved care).

Cost and Timeframe

$5.50 per alumni with project completion 45-60 days from delivery of alumni data.  Those alumni found with the exact address as provided will be no charge.
